About Me - Dr. Jana Drew - Austin, Tx

I've been a licensed and practicing therapist for more than 20 years and currently see clients exclusively through video tele-therapy.  My clients have successfully worked through concerns such as anxiety, depression, relationship issues, chronic pain, and trauma, returning to a more satisfying, meaningful, and happier life. I am confident that I can help you do the same.

I earned my master's and doctoral degrees at Wayne State University and completed my post-doctoral training at Ohio State University.  Currently I work for Veterans Affairs providing video tele-therapy to our nation’s Veterans during the 8 am to 4:30 pm work day, and then provide care to my private practice clients in the evenings and on Saturday mornings.

I moved to St. Louis, MO, where I grew up and have family, in 2020. Prior to that I lived in Austin, having moved there in 2012.  I adore both St. Louis and Austin and enjoy my ongoing connections in each. Before moving to Austin in 2012, I worked at the Washington DC Veterans Affairs Medical Center as a psychologist and Health Behavior Coordinator.  Prior to that, I worked for Johns Hopkins University interviewing and diagnosing participants in a study exploring genetic factors in obsessive compulsive disorder. My career has included private practice therapy, providing therapeutic interventions in NIH-funded research, and providing therapy to clients through in-patient and out-patient medical settings.

I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and CommitmentTherapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) and Motivational Interviewing, all evidence-based therapies with research supporting their effectiveness.
